Nutritional Mealtimes

Meals and snacks are provided with small appetites and growing needs in mind.

A varied menu is offered, with all our meals being prepared fresh each day on site by our cook who has a Level 2 in food safety and hygiene.

Our kitchen has a 5-star rating from environmental health for our food preparation and record keeping.

The nursery is fortunate to have links with the local community garden and we use different produce that is available throughout the year when preparing meals. The children in the nursery have opportunities to visit the garden when we are picking the vegetables. We also grow tomatoes, fruits and herbs in our nursery garden.

We are able to cater for any special dietary requirements and allergies. We will provide weaning foods for your baby, but request that parents provide their own formula milk.

Children who attend Sidcop Nursery, depending on their sessions, will be provided with breakfast, a 2 course lunch and a light tea. We also provide a healthy mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack of fresh fruit, bread sticks, rice cakes, water and milk.

We have a water cooler where children can help themselves throughout the day.

Our mealtimes are a great opportunity for our children to sit together, independently collect their meals and try new foods. We are sensitive to children’s likes and dislikes, while encouraging them to sit with their friends and try something new.

The children are really excited when tasting the things they have grown in the nursery garden.
